Basic Shot Technique

Skilled pool players use various techniques to enable them gain more points. Some of these techniques include billiard skills that allow a player to maneuver thus increasing their chances of winning. Using these techniques, a player pockets the desirable ball while making it hard for the opponent to pocket the ball. There are various billiard techniques used by pool players. They include:

English
This is a spin positioned on the side of a cue ball.  Using this sidespin, one has an option if hitting the cue ball on either the left side or right center side.  The main objective of English technique is to avoid deflection after the cue ball encounters the rail. The English technique also allows one to change the direction of object ball as well as the route of the cue ball.

Follow
Follow is another billiard technique used in pool games. The main objective of this technique is increasing the ball’s spinning speed. Follow technique widens the angle cue ball’s departure from object ball. By   using follow technique, a player increases the rate of cue ball’s path after as well as before it contacts the object ball.

Force Follow
Thus is an improved follow technique. Once used by a player, a cue ball pauses less than a minute before moving in the forward direction with high velocity. The cue ball moves through any ball it encounters on its way.

Draw
Some billiard techniques allow a player to slow down movement of cue ball. Such a technique includes the draw technique. This technique is a backward spin placed on cue ball. Using the draw technique, a player shoots the cue ball under the vertical mid surface. This technique enhances narrowing of cue ball’s departure angle from object ball.

Force Draw
This is an improvement of draw technique. It is similar to force follow because it allows the cue ball to pause for less than minute before proceeding forward through any ball along its way.

Throw
This is movement followed by object ball after collision with cue ball.

The Masse Shot
Many pool players use this technique because it causes the cue ball to spin fast while making sharp curves. This avoids collision of the cue ball with other balls and the rail. This enhances the velocity of the cue ball.

Jump shot
This technique allows the cue ball to leap in air lawfully.
